In 2011, while recovering from foot surgery and still working at the time, Terry happened upon the SPCA Garage Sale. With her foot in a walking cast and some extra time on her hands, she and her husband dropped off a few donations at the small building near the Water Treatment Plant. On a whim, Terry asked if they needed any volunteer help. They said “yes,” and she was instantly hooked. Since then, she has volunteered every year and always looks forward to reconnecting with fellow volunteers and discovering the unique and interesting donations that come through the doors.
Terry and Pauline have been friends since the mid-seventies, when they both worked at Michener Centre. Terry eventually convinced Pauline to come help out on her days off, and after retiring, Pauline also became a dedicated and regular volunteer.
Terry, thank you for jumping in all those years ago and continuing to show up with kindness, energy, and passion. Pauline, thank you for joining her and becoming such an important part of the team. We’re so grateful for both of you and all that you do. You help make the Garage Sale a success, and we’re lucky to have you both.
“We continue to be involved because we both love animals, and that is what the Central Alberta Humane Society is all about. We continue to do our best to help make the Humane Society and Whisker Rescue Garage Sales better events every year.”
