After working 35 years in the Oilpatch, Gary found himself retired. Six months later, he realized he was completely lost. As an animal lover with three pets of his own (a bulldog and two cats), he thought the Central Alberta Humane Society might be a good fit.
Gary has been volunteering for two months and loves it. Walking and playing with the dogs has given him a sense of purpose by enriching their lives, and in return, they bring him happiness.
“The hardworking staff and other volunteers are great people, and they give me a sense of community I was missing. I look forward to every shift!”
