“Lawrence and I have been blessed with the gift of serving. We genuinely love people and helping others. Volunteering enriches our lives and brings us joy.”
Lawrence & Sue started volunteering for the Humane Society three years ago. They met Kelly (our Fund Development Coordinator) when the Garage Sale was held at the old Co-op Grocery Store downtown.
They have met many new people while volunteering at the Garage Sale and formed new friendships. Sue and Lawrence have learned many new things and continually expand their skill sets. “The folks who have helped at the Garage Sale for years have a great system that works very well. It has been great learning from the volunteers.”
Giving back to the community is important to them and the Garage Sale is a perfect event for that. “It helps local Red Deerians find products they need at very affordable prices and also helps animals that need care.”
“The Humane Society is very flexible with hours. You work when you can. Someone is always there to help or give suggestions. There are lots of laughs and comradery. If you have some time, please consider joining us in preparing for the big Garage Sale in July.
A big bonus of volunteering is that people who volunteer frequently tend to live longer than those who don’t.”
Thank you so much for everything you do and being such amazing people to have in our organization and community!
