This is Sherilyn, Volunteer of the month for the month of July.
Sheril is new to the Central Alberta area and was looking for a way to become part of the community. She has started to help out at the Red Deer Food Bank, the Springbrook Community Garden, with a children’s church program, and CA Humane. Sheril is passionate about providing service to the shelter, as well as the time she spends with/the love she has for the dogs, especially the “big dogs”. She wishes she could take them all home! Some days are met with mixed emotions when she is thrilled and sad at the same time when one of “her” dogs has gone to their furever home. Sheril has a rescue dog of her own, Vienna, a 5-year-old American Bull Dog cross, whom she loves as much as her own two children.
Sherilyn: “When I look into the eyes of a dog at the shelter, I see their sadness, their joy, and their longing for a home and a family. If I can spend the time making their day happier, then my day is brighter and my heart is full. As Roger Caras said, “Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole”.”
Thank you Sheril for enriching our in shelter pups and loving them as much as your own!
