Nelson is 1 year old and a BIG boy, weighing in at over 100 pounds. Behind that impressive size is a young dog who is still learning, growing, and working hard on becoming the best version of himself. Nelson is looking for a home that understands that loving a dog also means understanding their needs, respecting their boundaries, and being committed to continuing his training. Due to Nelson’s needs, we are looking for a VERY specific home for him: NO children. NO other animals. An EXPERIENCED, adult only home. Someone physically capable of safely handling a dog over 100 lbs. EXCEPTIONAL experience with powerful breeds, such as Rottweilers, Cane Corsos, Mastiffs, Dobermans, German Shepherds, etc. An adopter with a solid understanding of resource guarding and dog behaviour. Someone committed to continuing Nelson’s training and working patiently with him as he learns. Nelson is currently working on his resource guarding, so his future family will need to have the knowledge, confidence, and dedication to continue that work using appropriate, experienced training methods. This is not something we want someone to take on casually, Nelson needs someone who already has experience navigating behavioural challenges in powerful dogs. He deserves a home that will set him up for success, respect his boundaries, provide structure and consistency, and understand that with a dog his size and strength, responsible handling is incredibly important. Nelson isn’t looking for just any home, he’s looking for the RIGHT home. And while his list of requirements may be extensive, we know there is someone out there with the experience, knowledge, and dedication to give this big guy the life he deserves.
