Hopper's Adoption Story
We’re a longtime pet home, having recently lost our XL senior boy dog, our cat Winston was devastated (as were we). After a bit of time, we knew it was the right moment to look for a friend for him.
That’s when we met Drix. He wasn’t like the others at the facility. Little did we know, Drix recently had his tail and leg amputated. He didn’t come out of his den when we met, so we had no idea until reading his bio later that day. We went back later that week, he still didn’t come out but the connection was strong, he picked us. After receiving one more procedure, he was finally ready to come home
A slow introduction was in order, we wanted to be sure the little guy wasn’t overwhelmed and both him and Winston took their time to get used to each other’s smells and presence. They engaged under the door for days, then we let Drix (soon named Hopper) have some alone time throughout the house to explore on his own terms and find some safe places.
Meeting each other. They were ready, after over a week of paw touches, cooing, and ball tossing from beneath the door….it was time. They did amazing! Hopper was so eager to make a friend, he couldn’t stop chatting and telling stories to Winston. It was as if they were long lost buds.
Hopper starts each day talking up a storm, walking around purring and cooing he calls for his friend Winston if he can’t see him. They are best buds and play constantly. Hopper brought such a ray of sunshine into our home, he’s such a kind soul who just flows with gratitude. He’s healed up so well and gets around just fine with plenty of rest when and where he chooses.
Thank you Hopper, we love you!
