Ellie's Adoption Story
I saw your Happy Tails Adoption Stories, so thought I would share ours. :)
We adopted Ellie from CA Humane on Valentine's day in 2019 (best Valentine's Day ever)!! We had just lost our first dog, Stella who was only 2 years old, to a heart condition due to back yard breeding. This was extremely heartbreaking and we were especially upset with ourselves for supporting a back yard breeder and swore to never 'buy' a dog again.
After Stella, I decided to volunteer at the CA Humane (not for very long) before I texted my now husband about Ellie. I noticed there was a 'caution - very shy' sign on her kennel but every time I walked by, she would jump 3 feet into the air to get my attention. I decided to go into her kennel to play with her and she was not shy at all... I believe she chose me. The next day, I talked my husband into meeting her and she did the same thing to him and acted like she had known us our whole lives. We decided to adopt her and took Ellie home that day. I am so happy we did, it was one of the best decisions we have ever made!
We do see the shy side of her now with strangers, but are able to work with her to improve this.
Ellie is sweet, funny, loving and protective. She is always down for an adventure or just cuddling with you watching tv. She enjoys playdates with her best dog friends, taking your seat, any type of food, car rides, camping, grabbing a pint at breweries and her cat brother, Cado.
We can't thank you enough for taking Ellie in, and giving us a best friend who helped heal our broken hearts.
Thank you!
Ciara and Brandon Molander
